A deer, just like a human, will take a slightly shorter step with the strong side. This means they will curve to the right if they are right "handed" over a long distance. Humans, when blindfolded, arc most often to the right without knowing it. Deer will run in a wide circle. Some tribes would capture a large elk buy chasing it in it's natural circle until it was right in their camp. A lot easier than carrying hundreds of pounds of meat home. They can take one "lead" or the other, referring to which foreleg they prefer to start out with when they canter or gallop. Most horses show a distinct preference for which leg they use in most circumstances; I had a horse who preferred his left lead when cantering. He also had a way of unseating me--a trick that amused him--when he occasionally caught me not paying attention: He would push off to the right, using his left foreleg, and dump me onto the ground. (I finally realized that he always used his "favorite" leg to perform the trick, so managed to counter it by throwing my weight in the saddle to the right, so I followed his motion.)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16707689081981540161noreply@blogger.com
